"Smart Illumination Yokohama 2015," an art event set in the Yokohama waterfront area, will be held from October 30th to November 3rd. Applications are currently being accepted.
The event will feature an art program created by domestic and international artists using cutting-edge environmental technology. Companies, organizations, universities, facilities, and local residents will participate to create a different, "alternate Yokohama night view" at the venue, Yokohama.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the event, and following on from last year, the event will also feature the "FutureCity Yokohama Smart Illumination Award" and a "City Exhibition."
The "FutureCity Yokohama Smart Illumination Award" is awarded to new illuminations that combine environmentally friendly lighting technology with the creativity of artists. We are open to submissions of works that demonstrate new uses for environmentally friendly lighting. In addition to the individual and group categories, a new school category has been added this year.

The "Machinaka Exhibition" is an outdoor convention that takes place in Yokohama's urban spaces. It is also a venue to promote lighting technologies such as LED, OLED, and phosphorescent paint, as well as environmental technologies such as solar power generation and energy storage.

This year will also see the first-ever "Talk Salon," an event where companies, universities, government agencies, and artists with cutting-edge technologies in the fields of lighting and energy will hold talks about ways to utilize "Smart Illumination Yokohama." It is held every month with a different theme, and the next one is scheduled for June 22nd.
