The BEIGE, exhibition and sales event "SHAPE OF PLANTS" will be held from June 19th to 28th at "THE SALOON," a gallery space located inside the Tamagawa Takashimaya Shopping Center.
"THE SALOON" is a gallery space that proposes objects and experiences that incorporate the BEIGE, philosophy into everyday life. Following "BEIGE, - Living with Tableware," held in May, this exhibition focuses on Tillandsia plants of the Plumeriaceae family, which are found throughout Central and South America. These plants are characterized by unusual shapes and forms that are unimaginable from ordinary plants, and are also known as "air plants" due to their unique ability to grow by absorbing water from the surface of their leaves.
During the exhibition, Fumio Fujikawa of "SPECIES NURSERY," a leading expert in Tillandsia cultivation, will serve as guest curator, showcasing a variety of unique plants. The exhibition will convey the fascinating shapes created by nature and the joy of cultivating and nurturing them.
Another highlight will be the collaboration with original vases by "1012 TERRA," created by Daisuke Menuma and Kenichi Yamada. The minimalist vases, made from glass and metal frames, highlight the beauty of the plants.
Also, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on June 20th, Fumio Fujikawa will be holding a Tillandsia epiphytic workshop. Participants will learn about the unique ecology of Tillandsia, such as how epiphytic Tillandsia grow stronger and faster by rooting them and how they can be hung for display. Daisuke Menuma and Kenichi Yamada of "1012 TERRA" will also be present all day on the same day.
