Inspired by the elegant horse races, a social event hosted by the British Royal Family, Conrad Tokyo's early summer afternoon tea

Event Date:2020.06.01-08.31
Jun 15, 2020
Conrad Tokyo will be hosting a Royal Afternoon Tea at its bar and lounge, TwentyEight, until August 31, 2020, inspired by the horse races hosted by the British Royal Family and held in the UK in the summer.

Horse races are a splendid social event attracting British gentlemen and ladies during the pleasant season when the sun shines brightly. At TwentyEight, we have prepared an afternoon tea inspired by the hats and dresses that grace this early summer festival, which combines tradition and elegance. Eye-catching treats include the "Top Hat Chocolate Cake," modeled after a top hat, and the "Lemon Tart Raspberry Mousse," inspired by a lady's lustrous hat. Enjoy eye-catching sweets, including celebratory red cookies, a symbol of the elegant festival. Savory dishes include "fish and chips," a dish known for its British origins, as well as items that evoke British culinary culture, such as "shepherd's pie" and "croque monsieur." The "Royal Afternoon Tea," lovingly prepared by our pastry chef, is a delight for both the eye and the palate, immersing you in British elegance and aesthetic sense. This summer, enjoy an elegant time with friends and loved ones in the open space of "TwentyEight," with views of Tokyo Bay and Hama-Rikyu Gardens from the 28th floor, reminiscing about the excitement and glamorous atmosphere of a British horse racing venue.

Royal Afternoon Tea Item Details
• Top Hat Chocolate Cake
A crispy chocolate cookie is shaped like the brim of a top hat, and the hat is made of bitter chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache, decorated with small flowers and raspberry-coated chocolate. When you bite into it, the tartness of the raspberry spreads in your mouth, and you can enjoy the combination of the crispy base cookie and the fluffy texture of the bitter chocolate cake.

• Lemon Tart Raspberry Mousse
Raspberry mousse is placed on top of lemon tart, garnished with sugar crafts and small edible flowers, to express the elegance of a lady's hat. The mellow acidity and refreshing flavor of lemon spreads throughout your mouth.

• Chocolate Flower Orange and White Chocolate Cream
Inspired by the bouquet of flowers given to the winner of a horse race. A thin, round chocolate is filled with fresh cream and custard cream and topped with berries, chocolate, and edible flowers. The bitter chocolate base is filled with a perfectly matched orange-flavored white chocolate cream.

• Rose and Raspberry Verini
Fragrant rose jelly topped with sweet and sour strawberries and raspberries, panna cotta, and pleasantly tart raspberry jelly are all enjoyed together for a refreshing finish.

• Lemon Cupcake, Pistachio Cream, Thoroughbred Cookies
Pistachio cream inspired by the grass of a stadium is squeezed onto a lemon cupcake, and it is topped with a thoroughbred cookie flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices. Enjoy the tartness and aroma of lemon.

• Fish & Chips
Crispy deep-fried sea bream served with pink tartare made with pickled vegetables and baby leaves resembling the grass of a stadium. Decoratively cut red radish is placed in a glass container to represent the feathers that adorn the glamorous hats of beautifully dressed women.

• Shepherd's Pie
The combination of bolognaise and potato puree creates an exquisite flavor. The fragrant brown color will whet your appetite.

• Green Croque Monsieur
Ham and cheddar cheese sandwiched between spinach bread, inspired by the grass of a stadium. :
