Jeremy Scott's MOSCHINO Spring/Summer 2016 men's collection was unveiled at Pitti Immagine Uomo on June 18th. The collection kicked off with a racing suit topped with a crown, a playful move typical of Jeremy, which at first glance suggested Italian motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi was the model. While this might seem like a playful approach, the collection was a slapstick, fast-forwarding time-traveling affair, with a focus on evening wear and sports. The tailcoats, biker jackets, and Spencer jackets that appeared one after the other featured lavish use of satin silk procade, lace embroidery, and ruffles, like a rebirth of the Peacock Revolution. It was a wild style that transcended gender and time.
The story is beautifully constructed as if Vantino Rossi and Fred Astaire met on a film that combined "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Staying Alive," with a touch of Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Louis XVI added, and it was on the runway of Pitti Uomo, the holy land of Classico men's fashion. It's certainly a 2016 worldview that could only be created by the combination of Moschino and Jeremy Scott.
