Features of IKEA Harajuku
- Sales floor organized around four "lifestyle needs"
IKEA Harajuku has created a sales floor layout that reflects the needs of urban lifestyles. The four urban lifestyle needs of "sleeping," "tidying up," "relaxing," and "cooking" are clearly reflected in the products that can be selected. Recognizing that limited space in cities is an issue, the room sets suggest effective use of space by matching layouts and sizes. Another feature is the wide selection of rooms that reflect urban lifestyles, such as rooms for single occupants and rooms that can be built at low prices.

・The first "Swedish Convenience Store" in Japan and globally
To support customers in their busy urban lives and make shopping more convenient, we have set up a "Swedish Convenience Store" on the first floor. You can quickly purchase affordable and sustainable products such as eco-bags, ISTAD freezer bags made from plant-based materials, and plant-based ramen. At the coffee stand inside the convenience store, you can enjoy takeout coffee, cinnamon rolls, plant-based soft serve ice cream, sundaes, and more.

・The only place you can enjoy this at any IKEA in the world is IKEA Harajuku!
"TUNNBRÖD" - a traditional Swedish flatbread topped with fillings

At IKEA, we want to create a positive impact on people and the planet. We want to enable more people to live better lives while cherishing the planet's limited resources.
IKEA Harajuku aims to be a hub for sustainability in Harajuku and is implementing the following initiatives.
・Introduction of EV Trucks

By 2030, IKEA aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from all IKEA value chains by at least 15% compared to 2016 levels. As a step towards this goal, in March we introduced two zero-emission, environmentally friendly EV trucks, the eCanter (developed by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation). One truck is owned by IKEA Japan and will deliver products between the IKEA Kohoku and IKEA Harajuku stores. The other truck is owned by SG Moving Co., Ltd., a delivery partner, and will be used to deliver products to customers' homes.
・Reusing real fir trees at Christmas
As a way to reuse the real fir trees sold by IKEA around Christmas time, chipped fir trees have been collected and are being used as fragrant ground cover in two potted plants in the Swedish Cafe on the second floor. This was made possible with the cooperation of Park Corporation's "parkERs".

・Registered as a "mymizu" water refill spot
All IKEA stores in Japan, including IKEA Harajuku, have been registered as free water refill spots on "mymizu," an app that allows you to find free water refill locations. At IKEA Harajuku, there is a water refill spot near the coffee stand in the convenience store on the first floor, so please feel free to bring your own bottle and use it.

In addition, to mark the reopening, IKEA Harajuku will be implementing the following measures to prevent the infection and spread of COVID-19.
- To reduce congestion, numbered admission tickets will be issued via the in-store ticket system.
- Admission may also be restricted depending on the situation inside the store.
・Installation of vinyl curtains on customer-facing equipment, such as cash registers
・Serving customers by maintaining a certain distance or by moving to an area with vinyl curtains
・Co-workers wearing masks, and, where necessary, face shields when serving customers
・Providing spray bottles of hand sanitizer in multiple locations throughout the store
・Layout of tables with ample space in eating and drinking areas
*In addition to the above, please note that we may implement new measures to ensure the safety and security of our customers and co-workers depending on the situation or in accordance with government policy.
We also ask for your cooperation with the following:
・Please refrain from lining up at the store before opening. (Numbered tickets will be issued via the in-store ticket system.)
- Please visit in small groups. Also, please refrain from staying for long periods of time.
- Please visit during off-peak hours.
- Please wear a mask while in the store and maintain a distance of approximately 2 meters from others.
