When developing this product, the focus was on how to make improvements while retaining the benefits of the long-selling Toleriane Moisture Lotion. Toleriane Moisture Lotion is a toner that is an essential skincare item for La Roche-Posay, and is a popular product in the series. To reinvent the series' signature lotion as a quasi-drug, we carefully considered each ingredient, balancing the formula while also considering its usability, safety, and stability.
■Points of emphasis and challenges
The thing we focused on most was moisturizing. We received a lot of feedback that simply adding nicotinamide, a quasi-drug ingredient, for moisturizing purposes makes it difficult for skin to feel soft after use, an important element of moisturizing. When developing Toleriane products, we consider those with sensitive skin and use ingredients selected according to our in-house standards. The balance of moisturizers also has a significant impact on the product's ability to maintain its quality. We made numerous prototypes and repeated the process, like threading a pin, until we found the right balance. We hope that many women with a variety of skin types will try this lotion.
