IKEPOD made a spectacular comeback in 2019. While faithfully recreating the original design, the new brand owner's strong desire to "make IKEPOD a favorite of many people for a long time" led to a revival at a price that may have seemed bold to those familiar with the pre-hiatus IKEPOD, drawing widespread praise for it as an "affordable art piece."

Still, calls for a mechanical return continued, and the new brand owner, Christian-Louis, himself expressed this desire. The revival of Megapod was planned from the time of the brand's acquisition.

This futuristic-shaped iconic case inherits the design of world-renowned product designer Marc Newson, and Alexandre Peraldi, who has trained at Cartier and Yves Saint Laurent and served as design director at Baume & Mercier, has designed a more modern dial that pays homage to the original.

Also, even with a large 46mm case size, the ergonomic curves that continue from the front to the back make it look smart, and when worn on the wrist, the part that actually touches the skin feels like it's resting on the bone, making it comfortable to wear. The back has a see-through case back that shows the rotor with the IKEPOD logo printed on it. And, let's not forget the price. To clearly demonstrate the new IKEPOD's brand philosophy of "sustainable values" and "price does not represent aesthetic standards," the watch once again uses a Japanese-made automatic movement made by MIYOTA. This watch is priced within reach of even those buying a mechanical movement watch for the first time, and is a product that will satisfy both as a watch and as an art piece.

【IKEPOD Brand Overview】

IKEPOD was born in 1994 from a fateful meeting between Oliver Ike and Marc Newson. The brand name combines the name of "POD," a signature piece by Marc Newson, who would later become the designer of the Apple Watch, with Oliver Ike's surname.

Introduced in the mid-1990s, Marc Newson's bold design, which overturned conventional wisdom about wristwatches at the time, was well-received for its streamlined design and the authenticity of its Swiss-made automatic movements. It quickly became a global phenomenon, adorning the wrists of watch enthusiasts, artists, designers, and Silicon Valley stars alike.

However, much to everyone's regret, the brand went dormant in 2013.

Then, in 2017, current owners Guillaume Gout and Christian-Louis Col acquired the brand, and in 2018, it once again captured the watch industry's attention with a crowdfunding campaign.
This iconic watch, which combined design and watchmaking, was a success, raising 400,000 Swiss francs in just 88 minutes and receiving orders from 700 backers from around the world.

In 2019, the brand made a comeback with a new collection unveiled at the Basel Fair, which began selling globally in August.
