Rugby is the ultimate team sport, with 30 players each performing at their best on the field and competing to score tries in the opposition's half. It demands speed, power, boldness and a spirit of unity, and aggressive forward movement is not always advisable against a well-coordinated defence. It requires greater use of the field and greater flexibility in thinking and play. The sport has grown in global popularity over the past 20 years, but has never lost its prestige. Because players always treat opponents and referees with respect, both on and off the pitch, upholding rugby's proud tradition of teamwork and camaraderie.

This noble and resilient rugby spirit is in line with the uncompromising watchmaking philosophy that TUDOR has upheld since its founding in 1926, and in 2017 TUDOR linked up with World Rugby as part of the #BornToDare campaign. In addition to supporting both the men's and women's Rugby World Cups and the Rugby World Cup Sevens, TUDOR also supports the U20 World Cup, where future stars compete. We also partner with the World Rugby Awards, helping select the best team and player each season. We also support the International Rugby Hall of Fame, based in Rugby, the English town where rugby was born in the 1820s.

A FOURTH RUGBY WORLD CUP™ FOR THE ALL BLACKS?

The Rugby World Cup, held every four years, is the world's third largest sporting event. This year's tournament, the 10th, will be held in France for the first time in 16 years since 2007. Twenty teams will compete in a total of 48 heated matches across nine venues across nine cities. Tudor will provide timing support as the official timekeeper.

Rugby World Cup 2023 will be held in the year marking 200 years since the birth of rugby, when William Webb Ellis, a student at Rugby School in England, ignored the rules and ran with a football. New Zealand's legendary All Blacks, a three-time champion (1987, 2011, and 2015), are aiming to lift the Webb Ellis Cup once again.

Tudor serves as the official timekeeper of not only the tournament but also the All Blacks, a team with over a century of history. With an incredible win rate of over 77% in test matches, they are one of the most legendary teams in global sport. Together, they are taking rugby to new heights, and a new generation of players are mentored by the greats of the past. Before each test match, the All Blacks perform the majestic Maori war dance, the Haka, to inspire and motivate all players for the match.
