A pop-up called "Setagaya and Suginami" will be held at Center Park on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from February 8th to 14th, highlighting Setagaya and Suginami's unique lifestyle shops. "Though Setagaya and Suginami share a common border, there's no direct public transportation network other than buses, and people rarely travel between the two wards. Each ward is home to charming, independently owned shops and neighborhood-inspired stores, but they're perhaps not well-known. The idea for this project was to introduce these two neighborhoods, which seem close yet so far apart," explains the buyer in charge. The pop-up will feature eight lifestyle shops from Setagaya and Suginami. A distinctive feature of the pop-up is the thrilling treasure-hunting experience, with a wide variety of items displayed in small quantities, reminiscent of a garage sale. This marks the first time that eight unique stores, each with their own unique style, have been gathered in one space. The four stores in the Setagaya area are PUEBCO in Taishido, which sells industrial furniture and miscellaneous goods; PLANT / PLANT in Ikejiri, which offers original plant-motif accessories made with natural stones; Jikonka in Fukasawa, which sells antique tableware and original clothing made from natural materials; and Shinajina in Okusawa, which offers new styles of bonsai. The four stores in the Suginami area are STORE in Nishiogikubo, which is popular for its original striped patterned items; Galerie non in Nishiogikubo, which offers clothing made from natural materials as well as accessories, basket bags, and antiques; Necklace-necklace in Hamadayama, which creates and sells one-of-a-kind accessories using antique accessory parts purchased in Europe; and Hachimakura in Koenji, which sells stationery such as old wrapping paper, stamps, envelopes, letter paper, and notebooks.
What each store has in common is that they have not been swept away by the times, but have stayed true to their own store policies while staying true to the relaxed atmosphere of the town. Why not visit Setagaya and Suginami as if you were taking a leisurely stroll through the town and enjoy searching for your favorite dish?
