Calbee and Mitsukoshi Isetan collaborate! A limited-time sweets shop will open at Isetan Shinjuku, with Kyoro-chan and Kappa Ebi-kun also visiting.

Jan 17, 2017

Calbee has collaborated with Mitsukoshi Isetan to hold an event featuring nostalgic, long-selling Japanese sweets, "15:00 #Cute #Sweets #Fun × Yesterday's Tomorrow," from February 8th to 14th, at the Isetan Shinjuku store's 2nd floor Center Park/The Stage #2.

Using the keywords "#Cute," "#Sweets (Nostalgic)," and "#Fun," this event will sell rare sweets, candy-themed everyday items, and miscellaneous goods that will make you want to share them on social media. In addition to a lineup of trendy goods, the store will also have a corner where you can buy sweets by weight. Approximately 100 types of sweets will be available from all over Japan, from rare sweets from well-known confectionery manufacturers to nostalgic childhood treats. Another highlight is the original chandeliers displayed at the venue, created by chandelier artist Kim Sung-hye using sweets and other items. The sweets-themed items include a wide range of collaborative items with creators. Illustrator Nono Nazuna's detailed sweet designs include cushions, masking tape, and mirrors; candy-themed accessories from Kyoto-based general goods brand nanaco plus+; accessories from ROTARI PARKER, made from resin-processed biscuits and other real sweets; and thermoses featuring stamps featuring Ginbis's "Tabekko Animal" design, created by illustrator and stamp artist Akko specifically for the event. Other items on the lineup include computer cases featuring the packaging of Calbee's iconic sweets, "Potato Chips Lightly Salted" and "Kappa Ebisen," as well as a set of three badges featuring delicious sweet designs, such as ice cream and strawberry daifuku.

In addition, the store will be selling tote bags that can be customized with stamps specially created by Akko as an item for "sharing sweets with others," as well as a service where you can wrap your own sweets using a wrapping machine. The store will propose the fun of customizing your own sweets and the sharing of "happy times" by giving sweets as gifts. Furthermore, at 3 PM every day (snack time), five familiar characters from each manufacturer will visit the store on a rotating basis: Kyoro-chan from Morinaga & Co.'s "Chocoball," Kapusuke from Ezaki Glico's "Caprico," Jagao from Calbee's "Jagarenko," Kappa Ebi-kun from Kappa Ebisen, and Potta from Jagabee. (On the first day, the 8th, you'll have a chance to meet the full cast!) There will also be an event where you can take photos with them using the Instax camera.
