Jul 15, 2023
A. Lange & Söhne, the German watchmaker based in Glashütte, is pleased to announce new models of the Lange 1 Time Zone and the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar. The classic designs of these two latest models, the Lange 1 Time Zone in a platinum 950 case and the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar in an 18K white gold case, reflect A. Lange & Söhne's history and its distinctive character as a watchmaker.

Lange 1 Time Zone
The Lange 1 Time Zone, a GMT model that allows intuitive reading of the time at home and in a second time zone, is now available in a new model with a rhodium-colored dial in a platinum 950 case.

This model boasts the in-house caliber L141.1, which, in addition to the standard dual time display, offers further enhanced functionality with a circular day/night indicator and a second daylight saving time display. The simultaneous display of two time zones is one of the most useful additions in precision mechanical watchmaking and is highly valued by watch enthusiasts worldwide. In 2005, A. Lange & Söhne introduced the original Lange 1 Time Zone, featuring a complication that allows users to select any of the 24 time zones in addition to their home time, with the Maison's distinctive dial design.

The second generation, launched in 2020, expanded its functionality with the newly developed in-house caliber L141.1, which intuitively displays daylight saving time. Now, with a new platinum 950 case and rhodium-colored dial, this simple, classic model joins the collection. Its monochrome design lends timeless elegance to its sophisticated performance, embodying the philosophy of the Saxon watchmaker, A. Lange & Söhne, to always push the boundaries of what is possible.

1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar
The 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar is both ambitious and rare, combining three complicated mechanisms – rattrapante, chronograph, and perpetual calendar – in a single movement. This model, with its combination of a pink gold dial and an 18K white gold case, exudes a classical atmosphere and is limited to 100 pieces worldwide.

The launch of the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar in 2013 was one of the landmark events in the Maison's history. As the Maison's eighth chronograph caliber, this movement, developed and manufactured in-house in Glashütte, Germany, features a highly unusual dial layout within the classic and elegant design of the 1815 family, and is equipped with three high complications. Following the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon (2019) and the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar (2021), this is A. Lange & Söhne's third watch to feature an 18K pink gold dial. The warm pink tones create an elegant contrast with the cool white gold case.

With its classic railway-style minute track, Arabic numeral hour markers and four well-balanced subdials, the dial reflects the essence of the watch family named after the year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange's birth.

About A. Lange & Söhne
Dresden-born watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded his manufactory in 1845, laying the foundation for Saxony's luxury watchmaking industry. His prized pocket watches remain coveted by collectors worldwide. After World War II, A. Lange & Söhne was nationalized by the East German government and effectively disappeared, and for a time it seemed as if the name would be forgotten. However, in 1990, Ferdinand Adolph Lange's great-grandson, Walter Lange, revived the brand. Today, only a few thousand watches are produced each year, primarily with gold or platinum cases. Every A. Lange & Söhne watch is equipped with a movement developed in-house and meticulously decorated and assembled by hand. With 71 in-house calibers developed since 1990, A. Lange & Söhne has established itself as one of the world's finest. Signature pieces include the Lange 1, the first mass-produced model to feature an outsize date and the brand's iconic signature, and the Zeitwerk, featuring jumping numerals. Rarely complex timepieces like the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater, Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, and Triple Split embody A. Lange & Söhne's dedication to further refining its watchmaking heritage. In 2019, A. Lange & Söhne opened a new chapter in its history with the launch of the Odysseus, a watch that combines lightness and elegance.
