The Versace Men 2015-2016 Fall/Winter collection, designed by Donatella Versace and unveiled in Milan on January 18th, did away with the brand's signature Medusa. True to its "Naked Versace" theme, the collection explored the sharp cuts and sexy silhouettes that are the origins of Versace. The tone-on-tone suiting, while featuring narrower shoulders and shorter lengths, remains characteristic of Versace, thanks to its lustrous materials. The shirts and ties are coordinated in the same color, and the sharp silhouettes with single buttons evoke the good old '90s. Long cashmere knitwear is a signature item this season. Fine-gauge long rib knitwear and low-gauge cardigans, both thigh-length, are layered with various items such as jackets and suits. Genderless pieces like knit leggings and slim-zip pants are also featured, along with a new silhouette featuring sharp tops and voluminous bottoms.
While making use of Italian craftsmanship, including mink short jackets and coats, padded nylon coats, tribal print blousons and coats, and all-leather sneakers down to the soles, the brand's signature Medusa motif only appears discreetly on belt buckles and gold buttons on jackets, and is not used as a key motif in this collection. This collection shows a new attitude towards a younger generation, typical of "naked" Versace.
