Jacob & Co. has unveiled the Astronomia Revolution 4th Dimension, the world's first watch with a four-axis tourbillon.

The leading watchmaker will unveil a groundbreaking timepiece at its biannual charity auction, "Only Watch." This special event raises funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) research, and features world-renowned watch brands donating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. The theme for Only Watch 2023 is "Colorful." In this context, Jacob & Co.'s proud "Astronomia Revolution 4th Dimension" was created for a charitable purpose.
This watch was created in collaboration with Jacob & Co. x Concept Watch Factory, which is known as Jacob & Co.'s main movement partner.

As the name "4th Dimension" suggests, this watch is equipped with the world's first four-axis tourbillon, further evolving the concept of the aforementioned Astronomia Revolution. While the incredible motion of the four movement axes is difficult to explain, the most obvious rotation is the satellite arms, which appear to float within the case. These satellite arms, acting as the first axis, rotate continuously at a rate of one revolution per minute. The second axis rotates once per minute, just like a regular tourbillon. Furthermore, the tourbillon cages on the third and fourth axes rotate every 18 and 15 seconds, respectively, in tandem with the satellite arms. The coordination of these axes allows the Astronomia Revolution 4th Dimension to break the barrier of a three-axis tourbillon, previously thought impossible. The watch also features a next-generation constant-force mechanism (patent pending) that maintains constant power within the movement. This manages the enormous energy required for the movement's continuous rotation per minute, ensuring a 36-hour power reserve.

This watch features a 47mm rose gold case with a unique design featuring a base dial beneath the main satellites. The base is made up of 35 gemstones, each with a unique, non-standard cut and a unique setting. Unlike the standard setting with the table facing up and the culet facing down, Jacob & Co. has chosen the reverse arrangement, freeing itself from the traditional concept of gem setting, to create a geometric field, resulting in a landscape of three-dimensional, striking brilliance.
