From June 28 to July 12, 2023, Louis Vuitton will collaborate with Sotheby's, the global destination for art and luxury, to hold a special charity auction. The auction will feature 22 remakes of unique Louis Vuitton Capucines bags from the Arty Capucines Collection, in which artists have transformed the brand's Capucines bags into works of art. Each unique piece, signed by the artist, is presented in a Louis Vuitton Boite Chapeau bag in Monogram canvas. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to various charities and NGOs.

The Artycapucines Collection has been running for several years, offering renowned contemporary artists the opportunity to express their unique vision through Louis Vuitton's timeless, feminine and classic Capucines bag. Named after the rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, where Louis Vuitton first opened its store in 1854, the Capucines bag's distinctive design has served as the ideal canvas for 24 international artists to unleash their boundless creativity in the four annual Artycapucines Collections since 2019. Each limited-edition bag in the collection further embodies Louis Vuitton's allure, combining the creativity of artists with the Maison's boundless innovation and tradition of artisanal savoir-faire.
Each of the 22 pieces in the Artycapucines Collection being offered in this auction, co-hosted by Louis Vuitton and Sotheby's, is a brand new, unique piece. Like the original limited-edition versions, they are crafted using carefully sourced materials and a variety of painstakingly crafted savoir-faire techniques. Each bag is signed by the artist under the flap and presented in a modern Boite Chapeau hat case made of Monogram canvas, based on a design first introduced by the Maison in 1924. Each unique case is signed by the artist who designed the bag and can be customized in a variety of ways, from a simple signature to more elaborate artwork.

The 22 participating artists are: Amelie Bertrand, Daniel Buren, Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Gregor Hildebrandt, Donna Huanca, Huang Yuxing, Alex Israel, Liu Wei, Peter Marino, Beatriz Milhazes, Vik Muniz, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Park Sobo, Paola Pivi, Hugo Rondinone, Tschabalala Self, Josh Smith, Jonas Wood, Kennedy Yanko, Zeng Fanzhi, and Zhao Zhao.
The Artycapucines Collection continues Louis Vuitton's close relationship with art, which began nearly a century ago when Gaston-Louis Vuitton, grandson of the Maison's founder, commissioned artists to create window displays and artwork for Louis Vuitton stores. In the spirit of this public commission, all 22 bags will be on public display at Sotheby's Paris headquarters on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré from July 1-5, 2023. This exclusive collaboration with Louis Vuitton marks the first of its kind for Sotheby's Handbags & Accessories department and aligns with Sotheby's ongoing commitment to supporting young artists and independent designers, including recent jewelry sales exhibitions "Quartet" and "Brilliant & Black," which support independent goldsmiths and emerging black jewelers.
The Louis Vuitton and Sotheby's collaborative "Artycapucines Collection" auction will be open for online bidding from June 28 to July 12, 2023, at www.sothebys.com. The 22 bags on sale will be on public display from July 1st to 5th, 2023, at Sotheby's Paris, 76 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore (75008 Paris).
