Fusing elements and designs symbolic of Gucci's history with Nishijin textiles, one of Kyoto's most representative traditional crafts, this partnership celebrates the beauty and historical value of Nishijin textiles while exploring their sophisticated craftsmanship and artistry.

This collaboration began when Gucci used sophisticated Nishijin-ori textiles to create a handbag with the brand's iconic bamboo handle, which was released as a limited edition in December 2022. The three newly created textiles, created through this first collaboration with HOSOO, are used on the Gucci Bamboo 1947 and Gucci Diana handbags, creating one-of-a-kind collector's items that combine each brand's signature designs.

And now, in the second chapter of this collaboration, which is based on creativity, tradition and innovation, two new textiles will be introduced, featuring innovative interpretations of Gucci's iconic GG pattern and Flora motif. Luxurious use of vibrant silk threads and gold and silver leaf, characteristic of the beauty of Nishijin-ori, as well as the interweaving of various threads of different thicknesses and colors, express Gucci's iconic motifs within intricate structures.
The Gucci Bamboo 1947 and Gucci Diana limited-edition handbags, a new collaboration with Nishijin weaving, will be available in limited quantities at select Gucci stores and Gucci Client Services from June 6, 2023.

Gucci Bamboo 1947
A contemporary reinterpretation of the bamboo-handled handbag that has defined Gucci's history, the Gucci Bamboo 1947 represents Gucci's past, present, and future. In 1947, when access to the finest raw materials for Gucci products was limited in post-war Italy, founder Guccio Gucci embraced the innovative ideas of Florentine artisans to create lightweight, durable bamboo handles for his bags. The Bamboo Bag quickly gained attention, becoming a favorite among Hollywood actresses and jet-setters, establishing itself as an innovative and iconic bag internationally. The Gucci Nishijin Bamboo 1947 Top Handle Bag is available in three sizes: mini, small, and medium.
Gucci Diana
The Gucci Diana is a handbag line introduced as part of the Ouverture collection, offering a new interpretation of the bamboo-handled tote bag, first introduced in 1991. The new design features a detachable leather strap inspired by the original bag's handle band, which maintained its shape. The Gucci Diana silhouette evokes a time when fashion prioritized practicality, while also embodying a timeless appeal and evolving notions of style. The Gucci Nishijin Diana Tote Bag is available in three sizes: mini, small, and medium.
