LOEWE further explores the reductionist ethos that drives its current aesthetic—simple, stripped-down simplicity—with the launch of its Fall/Winter 2023 Pre-Collection campaign, documenting the LOEWE community of artists and creatives as they reflect on their lives, work, and ideas in a sober yet slightly off-kilter way. Photographed by Juergen Teller, the campaign features a diverse cast of actors, curators, singers, and models, all captured in natural, albeit slightly staged, scenes.

The campaign marks the latest in LOEWE's ongoing collaboration with Juergen Teller, featuring a striking mix of raw gaze, dry sense of humor and a sculptural approach to the body and pose. Each photograph features Juergen Teller's own archive works, propped up on large pillars and used as backdrops. The contrast between these recontextualized images and the outdoor sets creates a humorous and slightly absurdist tension, a play between reality and depiction that fuels an exploration of detail, culminating in the cast's interpretive poses.

Hans Ulrich Obrist photographs the Elephant bag. Aubrey Plaza holds the Paseo satchel in front of flowers and concrete, Ruth Negga shows off her Font Tote against a photo of a giant owl, and Takeshi Kitano holds a puzzle like a phone in front of a photo of a phone propped up against a wall.

The poses and situations are both rough and playful, reflecting and highlighting the pre-collection silhouettes, which mix clean forms, bold details like giant bows and protruding bodies, and sculptural essentialism. Signature LOEWE bags, including the Puzzle, Paseo and Font Tote, are introduced in new variations, colors and sizes. The shoes also feature key details that are now iconic for Loewe, such as the Objet Trouvé heel and petal-like toe of Sonoya Mizuno's toy boots, and the exaggerated toe of Murray Bartlett's blush suede Chelsea boots.

Juergen Teller's seemingly stark portraits are reductionist yet expressive and energetic, breathing life into everything.
