An organic store with a cafe opens in Omotesando, where you can search for cosmetics like in a library. Designed by Sato Oki

Feb 23, 2015

On April 25th, the organic cosmetics concept store "BEAUTY LIBRARY" (1F, HOLON-R, 3-12-12 Kita-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo) will open in Omotesando, Tokyo.
The shop, designed to resemble a library, will offer organic cosmetics and personal care products. Major brands include "WELEDA," "naturaglace," "uka," and "MiMC," as well as inner beauty items from "Naturally Nova Scotia Organics" and "KUSU HANDMADE." This, along with household goods, will total approximately 1,000 items for sale. Product information can be viewed using the tablet devices provided.
The store also features a cafe space serving organic food produced by chef Masashi Komiya. Komiya specializes in vegetable-based dishes, and New York-style tossed salads, jar salads, smoothies, and more will be available. Drinks such as domestically roasted organic Kona coffee are also carefully selected for their deliciousness and safety, and herbal teas are brewed using an espresso machine for a fragrant finish.

The store design was handled by Sato Oki, a designer at nendo who was selected as one of the "100 Japanese People Respected by the World" by Newsweek magazine. In keeping with the image inspired by the store's name, the store has been designed to create a library-like space where customers can casually interact with the products. Within this space, consideration has been given to creating an environment that can satisfy women's intellectual curiosity.
