Spotify has selected 10 up-and-coming Japanese artists expected to make a breakthrough this year as "Early Noise 2020" and has released a playlist featuring their songs.

"Early Noise" is a program in which Spotify announces the next generation of artists it is looking to highlight that year at the beginning of the year and introduces them to discerning music fans early through a playlist of the same name. Spotify also regularly hosts live showcases called "Spotify Early Noise Night," giving fans the opportunity to experience the performances of artists they discover on the playlist. Since "Early Noise" began in Japan in 2017, a variety of artists, including Aimyon, Official Hige Dandism, Vickeblanka, and CHAI, have gained many new listeners both in Japan and overseas, and are stepping up to the next stage. The ten artists selected this time are: Kamiyama Hitsuji, a new-generation sound creator who is attracting attention not only from the music industry but also from the fashion and art worlds; Karin., a high school student singer-songwriter from Ibaraki who is attracting attention among music-conscious listeners; Gestalt Otome, a rock band from Taiwan known for their genre-defying sound; Daichi Yamamoto, a Kyoto-born MC with a Japanese father and a Jamaican mother who is attracting attention both domestically and internationally; Novelbright, a five-member rock band from Osaka known for vocalist Yudai's unique, heart-stirring voice; Vaundy, a multi-creator who writes all of his own lyrics, composes all of his own music; Fujii Kaze, who is garnering attention for his solid technique and excellent piano arrangements that appeal to all listeners; Friday Night Plans, a music project centered around Masumi, who has a floating feeling and unique overtones; Maica_n, whose original songs are almost all "non-fiction," and Rina Sawayama, a pop singer living in London who is attracting attention worldwide.
To coincide with the announcement of these artists, a playlist of their songs, "Early Noise 2020" (https://spoti.fi/EarlyNoiseJapan), has been released. We will continue to actively introduce these 10 artists to music fans both in Japan and abroad.
