Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read right now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a bookstore in Harajuku's Gaienmae area that specializes in foreign books.

■ "Notes on Ordinary Spaces" by Ola Rindal
A collection of works by Norwegian photographer Ola Rindal.
This work is the eighth in the "Seasons Series," a quarterly photobook project by LIBRARYMAN, a publisher based in France and Sweden.
This is a consistent project in which artists who fall into a certain category express their work in the form of a book under the same conditions, but each artist's perspective brings out their individual differences. Furthermore, while the selection and content of the artists appearing each season highlights each individual work, the size, number of pages, and design are consistent throughout the entire collection.
The technique of using the four seasons was inspired by South Korean film director Kim Ki-duk's video work "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" (2013), in which various actors play the life of a single protagonist, with the four seasons representing a lifetime, and a single father-figure living in a hermitage in the middle of a lake, is particularly striking. This video work is particularly structured as a story that follows the changing of the landscape through the seasons, which influences the protagonist's growth, but this project, the "Seasons Series," is centered around simple yet profound ideas, spirituality, and human passion, while each work gives a sense of the difference between the seasons.
