Chandelier artist Kim Seong-hye's exhibition to be held at The Blend Inn in Osaka

Event Date:2019.11.30-12.29
Dec 9, 2019
Chandelier artist Kim Songhe's first exhibition in Osaka, "DEARTOY," will be held at The Blend Inn hotel in Osaka's Konohana ward from November 30th to December 29th.

Born in 1982, Kim Songhe grew up in an environment where he was forced to confront his identity from an early age as a Korean resident of Japan. During this time, he would occasionally catch sight of worn-out, sun-drenched toys that seemed to reflect his own image. He continues to create works primarily using the motif of "chandeliers" as a symbol of bright places where people gather. These works are free of any barriers such as discrimination or prejudice based on nationality, appearance, age or gender; rather, one can discover the beauty and freedom that is possible precisely because of these "differences."

Kim Seong-hye's works are sure to remind us of important things that we may be slightly forgetting. And above all, they will serve as an opportunity to recall the wonderful experiences and scenes that each of us must have in our childhood memories.
