3.1 Phillip Lim will launch its 2020 women's pre-spring collection in Japan on December 18th. The brand will also release sneakers in collaboration with Japanese shoe factory Moonstar.
This collection further evolves "wardrobe dressing," incorporating recycled denim, plastic, and other elements to express the brand's core sustainability principles in a modern wardrobe. Further refining dressing as a modern uniform and essential, the collection updates daytime utility wear, soft tailoring, and the fluidity of day-to-nightwear.
In a first, recycled denim, plastic, and leather have been partially "chrome-free." Oversized, bold windowpane checks and pinstripes are classic yet powerful. In contrast, abstract floral prints combine traditional ikat weaving with the rebellious spirit of pop art, while the youthful simplicity of the fil coupe fabric counteracts the floral's femininity.
The deliberate contradiction is also expressed in the classic, flowing tailored Crombie-style coat, while the double-sided mackintosh coat features technical tape seams.
