Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer's groundbreaking, cutting-edge Diamantes d'Avant-Garde technology has once again created a model that marks a major milestone in the luxury watch industry. The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma 36mm features 1.4 carats of colored Diamantes d'Avant-Garde, the first color created using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology.

This model also features TAG Heuer's first pink and white laboratory-grown diamonds, marking the start of a more widespread use of these colored lab-grown diamonds in the future. The model was unveiled at Watches & Wonders during the presentation of the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamante d'Avant-Garde "2.0," featuring a custom, exclusive aluminum bezel and bracelet set with 124 Diamante d'Avant-Garde diamonds totaling 15.5 carats.
The arrival of the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamante d'Avant-Garde with pink diamonds is further testament to TAG Heuer's avant-garde and innovative spirit, deeply embedded in the brand's DNA, which sees the use of lab-grown diamonds of all shapes, as well as colored diamonds, to create disruptive designs.

This marks a new chapter in the second chapter of TAG Heuer's rich history, where 163 years of legacy meets new avant-garde innovations and continues into the future.
Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer, said at the launch event:
This breathtaking pink color is achieved by adding color during the diamond growth process. Other colors will be introduced in the future.
"The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamante d'Avant Garde is a truly innovative and beautiful piece, and we are thrilled to partner with Emmanuel Dupas, Director of the TAG Heuer Institute," said Emmanuel Dupas.

The new, color-filled TAG Heuer Plasma Diamante d'Avant-Garde features a 36mm case in white gold, reminiscent of the redesigned TAG Heuer Carrera Date, unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2023. The flange above the dial and hands, located below the crystal, also features a new design.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma's distinctive crown diamond is a single 1.3-carat pink lab-grown diamond. A new, distinctive shape, the Diamante d'Avant-Garde shield, elegantly adorns the polycrystalline diamond dial.
This groundbreaking feature, and its beauty, is achieved by growing an enormous number of diamond crystals together, creating stunning reflections and optical effects within a single diamond. This is one of many creative uses of CVD technology, which has previously been featured in other TAG Heuer Carrera Diamante d'Avant Garde models.
The unique 2.9-carat dial design features 12 white gold indexes set with white lab-grown diamonds. The skeletonized hour and minute hands are topped by an exclusive pink diamond in the shape of a shield, directly below the Carrera dial logo.
This one-of-a-kind three-hand watch weighs 4.8 carats. It is presented on a black alligator strap with a white gold pin buckle. The open sapphire caseback reveals the TAG Heuer Caliber 7 automatic movement.
In 2023, the TAG Heuer Carrera will celebrate a historic milestone: its 60th anniversary. By adding these Diamante d'Avant-Garde models to this iconic flagship collection, TAG Heuer continues to innovate, demonstrating the brand's passion and commitment to its pioneering spirit and DNA. The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamante d'Avant-Garde 36MM, unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2023, is the first prototype. Scheduled for commercial release at the end of 2023, it will be produced in limited quantities and sold by order in TAG Heuer boutiques worldwide.

Everyone involved is proud to present a true innovation with the colorful Diamante d'Avant Garde in a luxury watch."

"Diamonds, whether natural or lab-grown, are crystals made of carbon atoms bonded in a regular pattern. A perfect, D-color, flawless diamond has no defects in this pattern and is completely colorless. To create a colored diamond, we must disrupt this perfect pattern in a controlled way. This disorder can occur by adding atoms of a different element or by the presence of defects. For example, a missing carbon atom can lead to disorder. The CVD process allows us to add these defects during the growth process in a perfectly controlled environment, eliminating the need for subsequent finishing processes. This method distributes the color uniformly throughout the diamond. Controlling this process requires very special know-how, such as that possessed by TAG Heuer's partner, Proud, and it is thanks to this know-how that we can consistently reproduce the same color."
