The "SHIOJIRI GRAND WINE PARTY TOKYO 2019," an event showcasing world-renowned wines from Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture, will be held on the entire second floor of Hotel Gajoen Tokyo on November 9th.

The highlight of the event is the "WINE PARTY," where you can taste a wide variety of wines unique to Shiojiri, including the Shiojiri Merlot that made the town known around the world. This is a rare opportunity to sample approximately 90 varieties of Shiojiri wine from 16 wineries in Shiojiri City, including a gold medal winner at the 2019 Japan Wine Competition and a wine served at the G20 Osaka Summit.
The admission fee (5,000 yen including tax) includes free tastings at each winery booth within the party venue, three food items paired with Shiojiri wines produced by Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, and an original glass and glass holder. Guests can freely visit the winery booths within the venue throughout the time and sample wines as many times as they like. In addition, winemakers and Shiojiri tourism wine guides who are experts on Shiojiri wines will be on hand at the venue to assist with finding wineries you want to visit, providing information on your favorite wines, and helping you discover Shiojiri wines you may not yet know. A special tasting room will also be set up where paid tastings of limited-quantity premium wines will be available. Premium wines that are normally difficult to obtain will be available, including high-class Merlots and Chardonnays.

Seminars and workshops related to wine, unique to the wine city of Shiojiri, will also be held. With activities such as the "Lacquerware Sake Cup Party," "Lacquerware Wine Coaster Polishing Experience," and "How to Use Leftover Wine," there will be something for everyone, from wine lovers to those looking to enjoy wine for the first time.
In addition, by answering the quiz in the pamphlet distributed to "WINE PARTY" participants on the day, you can take part in the limited-edition "GWP Gachapon" machine. You could win items to make the event even more enjoyable, such as a "My Wine" sticker to stick on your wine glass. "Shiojiri Market Street" will be open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the free admission area, which is open even without a ticket. In addition to the wines offered at the "WINE PARTY," a wide variety of Shiojiri wines will be available for purchase. Even non-wine drinkers will be able to enjoy Shiojiri's specialty products, including Shiojiri ingredients and processed foods, and an exhibition and sale of traditional Kiso lacquerware, all produced in the naturally blessed Shiojiri region at an altitude of 700 meters. Also, starting at 12:00 PM, the "2019 Miss Wine Japan Competition" will be held, where a Miss Wine, an ambassador who will promote the appeal of wine and contribute to regional revitalization, will be selected. Finalists selected from regional competitions held across the country will gather at the event venue, and the grand prize will be decided on the day.
Advance tickets are on sale now at the ticket sales site (https://bit.ly/2kGUJlx) at a special early sale price of 4,500 yen. This event is enjoyable for everyone, from wine enthusiasts to those looking to enjoy wine for the first time and those wanting to sample local Shiojiri ingredients. Why not come along and enjoy it?
