Hender Scheme and Dr. Martens will release their first collaborative shoe on September 28th. The lineup includes two models, one made in Japan and one made in the UK, that are reconstructions of the iconic 1461 model.
Left: "1461 Hender Scheme" (50,000 yen)
Right: "manual industrial products 21 × Dr. Martens" (58,000 yen)
This collaboration recreates Dr. Martens' iconic 1461 model. The two shoe brands, one in Japan and the other in the UK, craft leather shoes using traditional methods and craftsmanship, have come together to create two completely new shoes that reinvent classic models.
1461 Hender Scheme (¥50,000)
The 1461 Hender Scheme (¥50,000), produced by Dr. Martens, is made in England by artisans in Wollaston, UK. The upper features a black smooth leather and comes with interchangeable quilting in black or natural. The quilting, heel, and shoelaces are made from Hender Scheme's trademark natural vegetable-tanned leather, which allows the leather to age beautifully over time. Additionally, the insole is engraved in gold with "Dr. Martens for Hender Scheme."
"manual industrial products 21 x Dr. Martens" (58,000 yen)
The "manual industrial products 21 x Dr. Martens" (58,000 yen), produced by Hender Scheme, is made entirely of natural-colored vegetable-tanned leather. As an "official derivative work" of the "manual industrial products" line, also known as the homage collection, it has been produced in Japan by Hender Scheme artisans in Asakusa.
Dr. Martens' iconic air-cushioned sole has been reconstructed using the McKay method, using a robust water buffalo leather sole. The ridges on the sides of the sole faithfully reproduce the groove design on the original sole edge. The distinctive yellow welt stitching is rendered in white. The insole is stamped with "Hender Scheme for Dr. Martens" in gold foil. The leather will age with repeated wear, becoming a unique piece for each individual wearer.
"1461 Hender Scheme" (¥50,000)
Both models are packaged in original boxes designed for this collaboration. Hender Scheme's directly managed store, Sukima Ebisu, will be holding a lottery sale of two models starting September 10th in-store and on the lottery website (http://entrydrmartens.henderscheme.com) ahead of the September 28th release. Additionally, a special room will be set up inside Sukima from September 10th to 15th, where products will be on display prior to their release.
In addition, as stores carrying each model vary, please check the NEWS page on the Hender Scheme website (http://henderscheme.com/) for details.
