A spa-cooled wine bar in downtown Tokyo with a cute scallop illustration [EDITOR'S BLOG]

Although summer is drawing to an end, the hot days are still continuing. When you come home from enduring the muggy heat and want to take a breather, the first thing you want to drink is a cold drink with a refreshing, refreshing taste. Ice-cold beer is certainly appealing, but a crisp, chilled sparkling wine is especially delicious in the hot weather.

I've been hooked on Japanese wine for the past few years, and one of my pleasures is buying various types and savoring them every night. However, since I know almost nothing about wine, when I buy something, I often end up choosing it based on the cuteness of the label.

Then, the other day, while casually strolling around the basement of a department store, I came across a wine with an intriguing label. "Delaware" is a sparkling wine made from 100% Delaware grapes, produced by BookRoad ~Budokurabito~, a winery located near Okachimachi Station in downtown Tokyo.

The sax blue label features a large illustration of a scallop sitting on top of a glass. I was captivated by the surreal yet adorable design and immediately purchased it! (By the way, the illustration was apparently drawn by a staff member at the winery. What incredible talent...)

Each wine is illustrated with a motif of a food that pairs well with it, which is a great feature for wine novices who aren't quite sure what foods to pair it with.

As for the taste, it's one that really brings out the deliciousness of the grapes, with a strong sense of sweetness and acidity from the Delaware. The refreshing fruitiness is perfect for hot weather. And like Champagne, it uses "secondary in-bottle fermentation," which involves a second fermentation in the bottle, resulting in fine, clean bubbles. The elegant bubbles gently stimulate the throat.

The store also seems to hold a variety of events, so I'm planning to participate in one soon. It looks like my love for Japanese wine is only getting stronger.

Well, today is Friday. To soothe the fatigue of the week, open a bottle of Japanese wine tonight and enjoy a delicious, fizzy Friday!
