While engaging with the traditions of pottery, Takuro Kuwata creates works that explore themes such as dialogue with materials and what he himself wants to express in today's rapidly changing world.

While based on ceramic techniques such as kairagi and ishihaze, his unique firing methods and vivid, metallic color combinations make for unforgettable, avant-garde works that have been highly praised worldwide, and have been exhibited in Japan at venues such as the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and the Towada Art Center, as well as around the world, including New York, Brussels, and London. In 2018, he received a special prize at the LOEWE Craft Prize 2018.

This exhibition, "Nichinichi" (Day to Day), is being held as part of the "FEELKIYOMIZUDERA" project which began at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in 2012.

"The act of creating something is the act of giving form to the various feelings and processes that occur in the reality in which we live in the present, such as encounters and partings, and times when we become compelled and empty our minds without understanding anything." "In a world where so much information is flying around globally, I want to create something that allows visitors to actually touch and feel something." (Takuro Kuwata)

Kiyomizu-dera Temple has been a place of artistic creation since ancient times. Come experience new moments and discover new possibilities.
