Yoshiokubo's Spring/Summer 2020 collection was unveiled in Paris on June 20th. While the previous two seasons were presented as show-style installations, this time the collection featured a VR show and an exhibition of the looks used in the show on a boat on the Seine River. The collection was inspired by Yoshiokubo's childhood memory of his mother's family home in Owase, Mie Prefecture, where his futon was always wrapped in a fishing flag. The items featured themes of fishing flags, the sea, and tying. The fishing flags were not inkjet-printed, but rather traditional designs. "There was only one fishing flag dyeing shop in Owase, but it had gone out of business, so we had them made in Kagoshima." Handcrafted pieces, with printed scarves tied to create details and components, were layered with marine images. As always, the collection was conceptual and playful, featuring mesh reminiscent of nets, a combination of high-tech materials, and scarves reminiscent of fishing nets.
