London Men's Collection took place from June 8th to 10th. In recent seasons, the fashion week has tended to shrink, with established and mid-level brands shifting their presentations to women's collections or moving their shows to Paris. The impact of Brexit has also led to a trend of shrinking the size of the show. Still, this season's show closed on a high note, fueled by the strength of young designers and the enthusiasm of young people for fashion. One designer who has firmly established himself as a fixture at London Men's Collection is John Lawrence Sullivan, who is participating for the sixth time.

Designer Arashi Yanagawa titled his Spring/Summer 2020 collection "Deeper Than Night." First to take to the catwalk was not a look, but London-based EBM (electronic body music) band DICEPEOPLE. The show kicked off with a powerful live performance, playing the tune of a gong. Tailoring, a favorite among press, buyers, and customers, was featured abundantly this season in square-shoulder coats and jackets for both men and women. Cutout ideas stood out, with snap button details on the back and sides, and coats decorated with zippers. Contrasting styling, such as layering mesh and shirts, gradient-colored bottoms, and large silver chain necklaces and leather cuffs, gave the impression of being particularly polished. Punky lace-up boots adorned both the men's and women's looks, created a unified look.

After the show, many people, not only those in the fashion industry but also musicians and artists, flocked backstage to congratulate designer Yanagawa. Designer Yanagawa says that since moving his presentation venue to London, he has had more opportunities to be featured in editorials in British and other European magazines. His collections have become increasingly refined as he resonates with the unique aesthetic and culture of London. Rather than pandering to trends, his own personality, which sticks to his own style, grows stronger with each collection, and it seems that many Londoners can relate to this originality. With around 16 years of experience since launching his brand, John Lawrence Sullivan is always moving forward and showing a spirit of continuing to take on challenges, so it seems we will continue to keep an eye on him.
