Starting May 11, LUMINE will open tax-free counters for international visitors to Japan in seven locations across five major buildings in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
This will allow tax-free procedures, which previously had to be completed at each export goods store, to be completed all at once at the tax-free counters. LUMINE aims to enhance the convenience of in-store shopping for international visitors.
The counters are being installed in response to the April 1st establishment of a system for entrusted export goods stores. Under this system, purchases of general goods and consumables must exceed a minimum threshold to qualify for tax-free sales. Previously, purchases of general goods and consumables must exceed a minimum threshold to qualify for tax-free sales.
The tax-free counters will be located on the 3rd floor of LUMINE Ikebukuro, the 7th floor of LUMINE Yurakucho, the 1st floor of LUMINE Yokohama, and the 1st basement and 6th floors of LUMINE EST Shinjuku. At Lumine Shinjuku, they will be located on the 5th floor of Lumine 1 and the 2nd floor of Lumine 2.
In addition, on May 11th, an opening ceremony will be held on the 1st basement floor of Lumine Est Shinjuku to commemorate the operation of the duty-free procedure counter.
