On May 8th, Culture Convenience Club (CCC) held the grand opening of Umeda Tsutaya Books, the first lifestyle bookstore in Western Japan, on the 9th floor of Lucua 1100. With this, all tenants in Lucua 1100 are now open, marking Lucua's full opening.
The new Tsutaya Books will have roughly the same floor space as Tokyo's Daikanyama Tsutaya Books and will stock 200,000 books. Rather than sorting books by genre, they will be arranged according to four concepts: "Luxury Life," "Work Style," "Communication," and "Health & Beauty." The store also has a total of 500 seats, allowing customers to sit back and enjoy browsing.
The store will have multiple tenants based on each concept, covering all aspects of lifestyle. Tenants within the bookstore include Starbucks Coffee, shoe shine shop Varnish, audio specialty stores Bang & Olufsen and Wedding Design Lab, nail and head spa shop Cu by Uka, cafe Le Garage, travel agency JTB, Apple product repair shop Kitamura Apple Authorized Provider Certified Store, and a computer and smartphone sales corner operated by CCC itself. Stationery and general merchandise sections are also scattered throughout the bookstore. Le Garage, operated by Cafe Company, will be the first store to offer this service, and in addition to the usual cafe menu, it will also offer a wide selection of light meals such as soup pasta and pasta gratin, as well as alcoholic beverages. With the exception of certain areas, most seating will allow customers to bring in Starbucks Coffee, food and beverages from Le Garage, and books from the store. Customers can also bring in books from the store to Cu by Uka, allowing them to browse while receiving treatments such as nail and head spa treatments.
In recent years, large bookstores with attached cafes have been increasing in number all over the country, but it is rare to find a large bookstore with such a wide range of tenants other than cafes, and this can be said to be a store that truly proposes a lifestyle.
