Shiseido has begun full-scale operations at its new research and development center, the Shiseido Global Innovation Center (GIC), located in the Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 district. The facility, which will open as an urban open lab called "S/PARK," will open its first and second floors to the public on April 13th. The 16-story building, with one basement, is an urban open lab that fosters interaction between consumers and researchers and collaboration with business partners and external research institutions both in Japan and overseas. The new office design and superior research facilities foster flexible and diverse work styles, encouraging researchers to come up with new and original ideas. This fusion of diverse knowledge and people will create unprecedented value. The communication areas on the first and second floors, which will open on April 13th, were produced by ORANGE AND PARTNERS' Kundo Koyama and designed by nendo's Oki Sato. At the "S/PARK Beauty Bar" on the first floor, guests can experience a personalized skincare service designed to maintain healthy skin through a skin analysis by researchers and beauty consultants. They can also create their own "My Cosmetics" (lotion and emulsion) tailored to their individual skin type and preferences. Also on the first floor, the "S/PARK Studio" features an indoor studio and running station, offering running and walking programs incorporating Shiseido Running Club know-how, as well as beauty programs based on GIC's unique methods. Also opening on the first floor is the "S/PARK Cafe," a cafe operated by Shiseido Parlour where guests can enjoy meals tailored to their mood and physical condition. The cafe offers well-balanced meals based on the "veggie-centric" concept. "BEYOND TIME," a digital time machine where two people can experience changes in their facial features, is also located on the first floor. The monitor displays the ages of a parent and child reversed, couples aging together, and a real-time facial aging simulation. Experience Shiseido's aging science and learn how communication between people changes when age is freely controlled. Additionally, a 16K display powered by Sony's proprietary Crystal LED Display System, which uses extremely fine LED technology to achieve high image quality and immersive visual expression, covers an entire wall, providing a unique viewing experience. The second floor features the "S/PARK Museum," an experiential museum showcasing unique exhibits related to beauty and innovation based on Shiseido's more than 100-year history of research. Through exhibits of cutting-edge technology unique to the research institute and experiential content themed on the "question of beauty," visitors can discover hints about "beauty" that will help improve their daily lives and the world of the future.
