[LOOK] Perminute 2019-20 Fall/Winter Women's Collection

Apr 4, 2019
PERMINUTE, created by Yoshiki Hanzawa, will present its 2019-20 Fall/Winter women's collection at Shibuya Hikarie in Tokyo on March 20th.

The theme for Fall/Winter 2019 is "YESES."

Through research into syncopation in music and the accents of indigenously developed languages, designer Hanzawa realized he was drawn to the lifelike quality that emerges when certain rhythms and rules are deviated from, and decided to work on font design before creating the clothes for the collection. This was the source of inspiration for this collection.

At the same time, he reread "Future is Wild," a book by Dougal Dixon that made an impression on him when he read it in elementary school, about the evolution of living organisms, and his thoughts turned to the world beyond modern life.

The setting is absurd, with squid ancestors dominating the Earth hundreds of millions of years after humans become extinct. But I remember it as training for a boy of about 10 years old to embrace the unknown and the strange. Now that we can understand almost anything by searching, or even think we understand it, I felt that there might actually be greater value in not knowing. So, I tried to create a collection that pushed beyond my own boundaries, with the intention of designing a loose ecosystem.

" Hanzawa commented. Regarding the show's production, he centered his ideas around a platform entirely adorned with a painting of the ancient Niagara Falls. Initially, he envisioned a dramatic image in which Look appeared in front of the spray and mist of the waterfall. However, rather than a more majestic, realistic look, he felt that the touch of the illustrations in a dinosaur encyclopedia—the inspiration for the collection—would capture a more "specimen-like" feel. He commissioned a stage set maker who specializes in stage props to create the pieces.

Perminute is steadily gaining more fans with each collection. Their clothes, which have a somewhat extraordinary mood but also match well with basic real-clothes items, are popular with many fashion lovers, especially on the streets of Tokyo.

It's also fun to check out the looks while looking for the playful and experimental details incorporated into the clothes.
