Through its "Hand in Hand" project, Fendi has collaborated with Tiffany Makers, artisans at Tiffany's hollowware workshop in Rhode Island, to create a limited-edition sterling silver "Tiffany Baguette Bag." The bag is engraved with the lily, Italy's national flower, and the rose, New York's state flower. This marks the first time that Fendi's "Hand in Hand" partnership has been established outside Italy, and it also serves as an opportunity to showcase Tiffany's finest craftsmanship.
Launched in 2020, Fendi's "Hand in Hand" project is a grassroots partnership with one artisan from each Italian region. This unprecedented project showcases the unparalleled craftsmanship of master artisans from across Italy, whose applied arts expertise continues Fendi's long history of constantly reinterpreting the signature Baguette bag. The project was made possible through an exclusive partnership with Tiffany Makers, paying homage to the Fendi Baguette and Tiffany's heritage of craftsmanship.
Tiffany silversmiths designed the bag with lilies and roses, then hand-chased the sterling silver. Chasing is a time-honored silversmithing technique used to carve silver; typically, silversmiths create a shape from silver before adding patterns and details. However, this sterling silver Tiffany Baguette Bag is centered around the floral pattern itself. The bag weighs approximately 5.2 pounds (2,356 grams) and took a total of 250 hours to create over four months.
In addition to this special piece, the Tiffany x Fendi Baguette capsule collection, crafted from smooth and polished crocodile leather with diamonds and silk satin, is available in limited quantities at select Tiffany & Co. stores worldwide and the official online store. The capsule collection pays homage to the most important codes of both brands.
