On May 4th, CHANEL held its 2015-16 Cruise Collection show in Korea. The venue was the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), designed by architect Zaha Hadid and newly opened in Seoul in March 2014. A distinguished guest in attendance included Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Alma Jodorowsky, Nana Komatsu, Rinko Kikuchi, BIG BANG's G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, Korean actress Park Shin-hye, and Korean actor Lee Jong-suk. The collection reinterpreted traditional Korean culture with the bold contemporary spirit of modern Asia, showcasing sophisticated style in a vibrant color palette that included fuchsia pink, coral, orange, lilac, celadon, mint green, turquoise, and royal blue. The show opened with a vivid look that randomly combined multiple colors. While evoking the traditional oriental color palette of "Five Directions," the collection also offered a glimpse into Korea's cultural background, favoring a unique and eccentric style that blends different cultures.

In addition to classic tweed suits, silhouettes such as pencil skirts, straight skirts, and knee-length skirts were combined with a wide variety of materials, including chiffon, organza, and lace, creating a free-spirited mood.

Chanel's renowned couturier techniques also took on an oriental nuance. Delicate marquetry-style embroidery was featured on the hems of tops, dresses, and pants. Bustier dresses, accentuated by grosgrain and velvet ribbons, were as dazzling and seductive as the neon lights of Seoul's nightlife. For evening wear, dresses reminiscent of the traditional Korean dress, the "chima jeogori."
