In 1994, Kurt Cobain, the frontman of the rock band "NIRVANA," shocked the world by committing suicide with a shotgun at his home. The first fully authorized documentary film to tell the story of his extraordinary life, "COBAIN: Montage of Heck," will be released nationwide for one week only starting June 27th. Described as "the most groundbreaking, revealing documentary of all time about Kurt Cobain," this documentary offers an unprecedented look at Kurt, a man who revolutionized the rock world and continues to influence countless creators even after his passing.
The film is directed and written by Brett Morgen, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for "On the Ropes," and executive produced by Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, making it an "official Cobain family approved" film.
Director Morgen, who has been preparing the film for around eight years, received the full cooperation of Kurt Cobain's family and was given free access to over 200 hours of unreleased music and footage, as well as personal archives such as diaries, art works such as oil paintings and sculptures, and photographs. The film also features interviews with close relatives who have remained tight-lipped until now, including Kurt's family and close friends, including Nirvana member and friend Krist Novoselic and Kurt's wife, Courtney Love, providing a vivid portrayal of the personal side of the man known as "Kurt Cobain," a man who remains iconic to this day. Tracing back to his childhood, this film delves into the seemingly impossible depths of Kurt's life, tracing the origins of his unique charisma, talent, and sensitivity. It's likely to have a lasting impact not only on the film industry, but on many other creatives as well. "COBAIN: Montage of Heck" will be released nationwide for a limited one-week period starting Saturday, June 27th.
