KENZO will present its Spring/Summer 2023 women's and men's collections by Artistic Director Nigo. Building on the creative story that continues from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, the first drop of the Spring/Summer collection, unveiled at Lycée Carnot in Paris in June 2022, was "KENZO Pixel," which highlights the visual expression of the 1970s and 1980s, when the designer was a teenager. KENZO Pixel was created around a pixelated rose print taken from the Maison's archives. Originally developed by Kenzo Takada for a children's collection (the brand's founder loved flowers and played with the motif with great enjoyment throughout his career), Nigo's rose today echoes the popularity of arcade games in the '70s and '80s, and is therefore a pop culture homage.

The pixelated rose, redrawn as closely as possible in blue, army green, and red, complements Nigo's reimagining of classic brand motifs like the tiger, anchor, and heart. The pixelated blue/gray rose appears on a men's denim zip-up jacket and pants set, while the red/brown colorway appears on a women's denim button-up hoodie and pants set.

Additionally, for women, there's a cropped cardigan and skirt set, mixing pixelated roses and tiger heads in a green and yellow pattern. For men, there's a heather grey jersey tracksuit reminiscent of '80s streetwear, with the pants featuring red stripes and pixelated roses. The pixelated motif is also miniaturized and featured on polo shirts and knitted cardigans, creating a Pac-Man and Space Invaders vibe.

Sweaters feature a large elephant's head and the word KENZOPARIS spelled out, while pixelated KENZO logos, tiger, rose and heart motifs are used abundantly on T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Based on the "Real to Wear" concept, the Spring/Summer 2023 collection embodies a real wardrobe and constitutes a forward-thinking approach to fashion. Nigo's KENZO runway showcases the House's heritage meeting his own contemporary codes. It's about learning from the past to look to the future. Through tailoring and workwear presented in genderless silhouettes, Nigo creates a visual theory that integrates and transcends cultural and conventional dress codes.
