A wardrobe inspired by a train journey from Tokyo to Paris. The KENZO Fall/Winter 2025 Men's Collection was designed with the image of a futuristic high-speed train journey across East and West. Reinterpreting the Maison's "Train Show" concept from Fall/Winter 1998, Artistic Director NIGO fuses dress codes, materials, and patterns to create a playful, preppy style that captures the energy of travel. Longtime friend and American artist Futura 2000 was tapped to create the collection's imagery and iconography, coinciding with the pair's nicknames, "2000" and "Nigo," resulting in the number 2025, coincidentally coinciding with the collection's year. The show, held at the Palais de Chaillot overlooking the Eiffel Tower, will feature a live performance of music selected by NIGO by American cellist and composer Erik Friedlander.

Silhouettes and Textures

Inspired by NIGO's archives, British tailoring is reinterpreted for the modern era. Suits are deconstructed for styling, with fluffy textures and pastel colors evoking a preppy vibe and unconventional tailoring. Classic suiting incorporates Japanese elements, including a kimono-inspired three-piece suit paired with a jacket. Workwear, inspired by archive pieces, is also transformed through a variety of materials, including a boxy utility jacket in vibrant winter mohair, work jackets and bomber jackets in soft pastel colors, and denim suiting reconstructed from deconstructed overalls. Knitwear, crafted with precise techniques and textures, emphasizes the collection's preppy silhouettes. Japanese denim trousers feature selvedge detailing at the cuffs.

Patterns and Motifs

A variety of patterns and motifs inspired by train travel are scattered throughout the collection. Stripes evoking flowing scenery, inspired by KENZO's archives, appear in various variations on tailoring, denim, and shirting, including diagonal and curving stripes reminiscent of leaves. Train window motifs depicting Paris and Japan appear in jacquard knitwear, prints on shirts and T-shirts, and as emblems resembling station signs. Inspired by traditional Japanese floor patterns, `KENZO WEAVE` is expressed in shearling, denim, and jacquard tailoring, some of which are quilted over a paisley pattern taken from the KENZO archives. Additionally, unique textured knitwear is included, inspired by Nigo's childhood memories of pachinko.
