Starbucks Coffee Japan will release the "STARBUCKS TOUCH The Cup," a Starbucks card in the shape of an iPhone 6 case, on May 20th. The Starbucks Card, introduced in Japan in 2002, is a prepaid card that can be used at Starbucks stores nationwide. Simply hold the card over an IC card reader to make purchases. Registering as a My Starbucks member allows for online deposits and balance compensation in the event of loss. The new "Starbucks Touch" series, shaped like an iPhone 6 case, can also be used as an iPhone cover. The inclusion of a contactless FeliCa chip offers a wide range of design possibilities. The first design features the familiar takeout paper cup motif, a simple design characteristic of Starbucks. The surface is rubber-coated and has a matte finish. The card can be issued with a deposit of 1,000 yen or more in addition to the base price of 3,000 yen.
