Ami Alexandre Mattiussi's Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection was presented on January 17th at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris.
The venue, which was used last season by Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh™, was staged as if to say, "If it were me, I would use it like this." Models walked through an haute couture-style venue separated by curtains, and when the curtains parted at the end, the Eiffel Tower was revealed before the guests. Naturally, all the guests were facing the Eiffel Tower. With international brands and designers presenting their work in Paris and the theme of diversity, it was a response that was typical of Alexandre, who grew up in Paris. The finale was met with thunderous applause.
This season, the collection showcased the Parisian man's balanced color palette, centered around authentic, classic coats. The first look featured an all-white, shrunken wool outfit. The collection, which launched with a women's collection, featured a base of black and beige, navy, brown, and khaki, along with a saxophone shirt, a mint green wool coat, a houndstooth jacket, a herringbone tweed coat, and a checked tie-lock. The collection's contents showcased understated, simple, and powerful pieces, showcasing a French style.

Amid a trend toward diversification, clarifying the brand's roots was a major theme for men's fashion this season. Against this backdrop, this collection, representative of the brand, clearly demonstrated that it calls Paris home.
