2019 has begun. To start the year, it might be nice to refresh yourself by replacing some of the things around you. With a renewed sense of purpose, this month's editorial team brings you some "new" finds.
Scent and memory: Everyone has probably felt a deep connection. A scent from childhood, a memory from a trip, that moment when a smell evokes a memory. This phenomenon, sometimes called the "Proust effect," is an instantaneous, uplifting experience that can suddenly occur in everyday life, and is one of my favorite experiences.
There's a soap called "SOUVENIR" that was created with the hope that everyone can have that experience.

"SOUVENIR" is a French word meaning "memory" or "recollections." Scenes seen somewhere, sometime, events deeply engraved in one's heart, irreplaceable time spent with loved ones... Evoking such memories brings a sense of calm and makes daily life a little happier. This brand, launched in 2018, is imbued with such a story.
In fact, this soap is a reincarnation of the soap named after Savonneries Bruxelles, a company previously beloved by many loyal customers and purveyor to the Belgian Royal Family. Souvenir, which was rebranded by Kobe-based SALON & Associates and has also revamped its logo and packaging, is a traditional soap that is still carefully crafted one by one by Savonneries Bruxelles.

The box size, oval shape, and weight remain the same. There are five flavors: Rich Shea, Argan, Dead Sea Salt, Cotton, and Sandalwood. "Cotton," which shares the same fragrance as the previous soap called "Savon Petit Carré," has a clean, uplifting scent like pure white cotton. "Argan" offers a pure, subtly sweet peony scent for a relaxing bath time.

Once lathered, the fluffy, creamy, and delicate texture is as soft as cashmere, providing an indescribable feeling of comfort. The oil, made from organic ingredients, plumps up your skin, and the addictive feel will become a daily pleasure. You can then gently fill the empty box with all sorts of memories.
Shop locations that stock it include CIBONE Aoyama and Spiral Market in Tokyo. It is also available online on the official website, so if you're interested, check it out.
