The 11th Yebisu International Festival for Art and Alternative Visions is being held, with this year's theme being "Transposition: The Art of Change"

Event Date:2019.02.08-02.24
Jan 4, 2019
The 11th Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions, an international festival of film and art, will be held from February 8th to 24th, 2019, at local cultural facilities such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Maison Franco-Japonaise, The Garden Room, and Yebisu Garden Place Center Plaza.
The Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions is an international festival of film and art held once a year at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Yebisu Garden Place, and local cultural facilities. In order to consider the question "What is film?", the festival brings together films from a variety of eras and genres under a specific annual theme. This is a unique endeavor, even on a global scale, to bring together a wide variety of works, transcending the boundaries of genre, including video art, installations (spatial exhibitions), feature films, documentaries, animation, experimental films, experiential media art, and live performances from Japan and abroad.

This year, the 11th edition of the event will be held under the theme of "Transposition: The Art of Change," which aims to bring about positive change with an eye to the future. It will consider how various transpositions, such as changing positions, tools, and underlying cultures, can "change perspectives and open up the future." This will be an opportunity for all involved and participants to consider "what is video?" as it emerges from the diverse works.
