In this fourth and final installment of our gift project featuring gifts purchased by our snack-loving editorial team, we introduce the baked goods and jams from Maison Romi-Unie, located near Gakugeidaigaku Station.


Maison Romi-Unie, run by confectionery researcher Igarashi Shiromi, is packed with female customers every day. The sweet aroma wafting from the store draws you in, making it hard not to stop by.

One of my go-to gifts is the sable tin featuring an illustration by ceramic artist Kagoshima Mutsumi, a favorite of our readers. When you give this to a friend as a gift, you're sure to receive a "So cute!!!" and an excited smile in return! Inside the tin are six Star Sable cookies. The cookies have a light texture and a gentle, handmade flavor. This tin is also a treasured keepsake, making it a great kitchen canister for storing tea leaves.



There's also chocolate featuring Kagoshima's design! It comes in a set of two flavors: strawberry, with its concentrated tartness and sweetness, and white, with its rich milk flavor. It's a rare treat, but hard to find.



The recommendations go on and on!!

First off, there's the jam series, which we'd like you to treat yourself to. Of the several varieties, we especially recommend "Caramel Bretagne." Just the description "Made with caramel, cultured butter, and Guérande salt..." is enough to get you in the mood for some delicious food. The saltiness that emerges amidst the rich caramel flavor is irresistible. Enjoy it with bread or scones and hot milk.



Maison Romi-Uni can be purchased as a single sablé, making it a great gift to give as a token of appreciation.
