Since winning the Gaudeamus International Contemporary Music Performance Competition in 1991, pianist and visual artist Tomoko Mukaiyama has been invited as a soloist by orchestras around the world, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands and the New York Philharmonic, and has been involved in the premieres of new works. In recent years, she has been active in a wide range of fields, presenting stage works and art installations that she choreographs and directs herself. Mukaiyama explores the relationship between the space in which music is performed and the performers and audiences involved, aiming to create works that cross, transgress, and coexist with various boundaries.
This "Pianist" exhibition is a new type of exhibition based on piano performance. Beginning on the first day of spring, which governs the time of nature and humans, performances will take place for two hours each day, with the gallery space open for only four hours, including one hour before and one hour after each. During the exhibition, which is held at a time difference of one hour each day, viewers become part of the "Pianist" installation, and Mukaiyama welcomes viewers as "partners in the work - open, vulnerable, and full of possibility," inviting them on an adventurous journey filled with intersecting time and music.

When the 24-day session comes to an end, the gallery will return to its original time. Set in a Ginza art gallery, not a concert hall or theater, why not enjoy the slowly rotating flow of time accompanied by beautiful music in a deliberately shifted, extraordinary setting?
