TeamLab's "Summer Festival" in Kagawa Prefecture: Crayon-drawn pilgrims come to life at the "Summer Digital Art Festival"

May 20, 2015

The Kagawa Waterfront Festival 2015 will be held from July 25th to August 9th at Sunport Takamatsu in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. The event will feature the "teamLab and Kagawa Summer Digital Art Festival," organized by teamLab. During the festival, teamLab will exhibit their new work, "Drawing People & Pilgrims." This work allows visitors to draw "people" (boys, girls, etc.) or pilgrims on paper with crayons, and they will begin to move on a giant screen in front of them. Once they have come to life, the people will communicate with characters drawn by others and wander together through a garden-like landscape projected on the screen. They will dance when music starts playing, and visitors will be surprised when they touch the people through the screen, resulting in a variety of reactions.

Also on display will be "TeamLab Crystal Fireworks," which are launched using smartphones. Visitors can select their favorite fireworks on their smartphones and throw them, which will launch three-dimensional fireworks made from light crystals into the air. This time, fireworks such as udon noodles and crocodile sharks, which are original to Kagawa Prefecture, will also be on display.
