On an autumn evening, the sun sets behind the Great Pyramid of Giza… As the light changes, a silhouette emerges from the desert, moving with the colors of the sky, the landscape, and the passage of time. As night falls, the stars, whose influence has shaped civilizations ancient and modern, come into view. Ultimately, the stars have always been part of the Dior legend, both for Monsieur Dior himself and for the Dior brand. Stumbling upon a literal "lucky star" on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Monsieur Dior became convinced that his destiny was to start his own haute couture house, a project often guided by his astrological beliefs.
Monsieur Dior's debut collection, called the "New Look," revolutionized fashion. Today, in its 75th anniversary year, we are here to celebrate that milestone. Beginning at dawn on the Pont Alexandre III, traveling to crisp summer days in Granville and Charleston, this year's show culminates tonight at the Great Pyramids of Egypt, where the idea of past and future emerges. It was there that Dior Men's Creative Director Kim Jones presented his Fall collection, with a particular focus on the future, within the continuum of Dior's past, present, and future.
In this collection, gradations of gray give way to a desert palette that stretches from day to dusk, subtly filtered by the fiery sunset. Light-years of distance are brought closer in engineered prints, representing the movement of stars close to us to those in a galaxy far away, visible only through NASA's space telescopes. Behind it all is a reflection of the philosophy and rigor of Dior's archives and its current men's ateliers, with a focus on pattern cutting.
The collection borrows from the past and applies it to the present and future: in tailoring, the feminine is transformed into the masculine, and in outerwear, couture finishes are combined with technical utility. Archive embroideries borrow inspiration from futuristic combat uniforms, leather goods reinterpret luxury with a new, organic practicality, and footwear takes on a futuristic touch. None of this could be achieved without traditional savoir-faire combined with contemporary technical know-how. Effortless, practical elegance embodies opulent glamour.
Like layers of history, garments are layered in texture, and outerwear and accessories offer a cocooning of protection. Within this ever-changing, living history, movement, ease, and fluidity are key. From the transparent texture of technical jacquards, which purposefully reveal the rigor underpinning tailoring and outerwear, to the new wool half-kilt, "Bonne Fortune," which originates from the bias-pleated skirt of an archival '50s dress, evoking the most ancient menswear while becoming a completely new piece as overgarment. Both bags and shoes are expressed in the "cannage" and diamond design codes, weaving together cutting-edge techniques and textures, from high-frequency neoprene paneling and injection molding to anodized metal finishes. Naturally, nothing stands in the way of the ultimate luxury of comfort and practicality.

When we are fascinated by the ancient world, we see parallels with what we see today—what we have inherited from ancient civilizations and what we continue to learn from the past. In this sense, ancient Egypt is linked to Christian Dior and his fascination with symbols and the mystical, which recurred throughout his life and work. One such symbol is the star. In both this collection and show, the idea of 'guided by the stars' is expressed in various ways. It suggests how the past shapes the future, or how we can draw inspiration for the future from the past."
