■ "Takahashi Collection: Mirror Neurons" Exhibition Catalog

This is the official catalog for the "Takahashi Collection: Mirror Neurons" exhibition currently being held at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.

The "Takahashi Collection," assembled by psychiatrist Ryutaro Takahashi, is an essential part of any discussion of Japanese contemporary art, featuring works by numerous renowned artists. This exhibition, returning to Tokyo for the first time in six years, brings together approximately 140 works by 52 artists, ranging from familiar names in the Takahashi Collection such as Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, and Yayoi Kusama to the latest works by Kohei Nawa.

This book not only features works and a brief biography of the artist, but also Takahashi's unique analysis, "Mirror Neurons and Simulation," which uses the concept of "mirror neurons" as a keyword to interpret the relationship between contemporary art and traditional Japanese aesthetics. It is packed with content that provides an overview of the trends in contemporary Japanese art. The exhibition runs from April 18th to June 28th.
