Cocoiku, a learning platform provided by Isetan Shinjuku Main Store, will begin its summer semester in July.
Cocoiku will host workshops featuring professional creators and specialists. Classes will be divided into four areas: "Media," which teaches students the wisdom they need to survive in an information society; "Art," which cultivates expressiveness and imagination; "Physical," which teaches the perception and expression of physical senses; and "Education," which is aimed at parents and aims to foster their values. Each semester consists of 10 three-month sessions, with four periods per year: spring, summer, fall, and winter.
The summer semester, which is about to begin, will offer 39 different classes. In the media section, students will experience collaborative creation online using a simulation system that makes it easy to create 3D models of virtual creatures. In the art section, designer Muneta Hashizume will be invited to encourage students to reconsider the possibility of designing not only visible things like colors and shapes, but also "invisible" things like words and rules. The physical area focuses on the theme of "sensation," allowing participants to enjoy the experience of "seeing, hearing, and touching" through music and the rhythm of words. Lectures are also offered to parents, and over a total of 10 sessions, participants can master singing and reading aloud. In the educational area, Adlerian psychology is used to improve communication skills. The program supports improving parent-child and marital relationships, including solving problems such as "what if parents' unconscious facial expressions, behavior, and beliefs are harming their children?" Furthermore, from July 6 to August 31, the "cocoiku Trial Seminar" will be held. Children can play freely in the "cocoiku Atelier," a space as free as an artist's studio and as stimulating as a scientist's laboratory. Playing with the support of dedicated staff who are learning experts stimulates intellectual curiosity and develops skills in imagination, language, geometry, mathematics, and more. This is the first time that the studio has been rented out by the hour, with participation fees of 3,240 yen per hour.
In addition, information sessions and workshop experiences will be held on Saturdays and Sundays from the first to third week of June. It might be a good idea to consider this as one way to spend your summer vacation or holidays.
