■ "Yunoki Samiro: 92 Years of Color and Form"

Yunoki Samiro, born in 1922, is an active dyeing and crafts artist. His encounters with the books of Yanagi Muneyoshi and calendars by Serizawa Keisuke, featuring bold folk art patterns stencil-dyed onto washi paper, marked a turning point for him. He left his job at the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki, Okayama, to study under Serizawa Keisuke. He began his career as a dyeing and weaving artist in his mid-twenties and has earned a reputation as Japan's leading expert in stencil-dyeing. This book provides a digest of his creative work spanning roughly 70 years, as well as introductions to places he is associated with, such as Matsumoto and Morioka. It also features folk art from around the world, collected with his discerning eye, accompanied by his own comments, creating a sense of conversation as he introduces his collection, piece by piece. Unconstrained by external status or genre, Yunoki Samiro has pioneered new techniques and materials, and in recent years has produced three-dimensional works such as dolls. This book offers a glimpse into the daily life and thoughts that fuel his insatiable curiosity, compactly capturing the essence of the artist. Additionally, the Nadiff Aichi store will be hosting a "Handicraft Fair" from mid-June to late July, featuring Yunoki Samiro's merchandise.
