Maison Margiela will be hosting a pop-up for its pillow-like bag "Glam Slam" at The Stage on the first floor of Shinjuku Isetan

Maison Margiela will be holding a pop-up store called "Discover the Maison Margiela 'Glam Slam' story," focusing on its iconic bag, "Glam Slam," from August 22nd to 28th at The Stage on the first floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. During this period, the Maison Margiela shop on the third floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku will start pre-selling the new iconic sneaker, "Retro Fit."

Glam Slam Medium (¥190,000)
Since its debut in the Spring/Summer 2018 "Défilé" collection, the Glam Slam has become the brand's new iconic bag. This shoulder bag with its unique quilted details reflects the concept of "Unconscious Glamour," the house code established by Creative Director John Galliano. Its curved, cloud-like shape, lightweight and soft, and crafted from delicate, silky nappa lambskin leather, evokes a timeless sense of comfort. For Fall/Winter 2018, new models and seasonal colors will be added to this iconic bag, telling an even more evolved story of Glam Slam.

Tabi ballet flats (88,000 yen)
The pop-up store will unveil the rich variety of the Glam Slam collection, from the basic large and medium models that were introduced in the first season, to new Fall/Winter 2018 models such as small bags and chain clutches. The color palette includes the classic white and black, as well as the seasonal colors of silver, Klein blue, and taupe, and to commemorate the opening of the pop-up store, three styles -- medium, small, and clutch -- will be available in smoky pink and smoky blue, colors exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku.

In addition, limited edition items will be sold exclusively, including the "Tabi" ballet flats (88,000 yen) and wallets in the same exclusive colors as the "Glam Slam," as well as an oversized graphic hoodie (79,000 yen) and graphic T-shirt (42,000 yen) featuring graphic prints.

"Retro Fit" Low-top Sneakers (120,000 yen)
During the same period, the Maison Margiela shop on the 3rd floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, which has been updated with a special interior, will begin pre-sales of the new iconic sneaker "Retro Fit" from August 22nd. The name comes from "retrospect," which means reminiscence or recollection, and these unisex shoes are infused with the theme of time and reminiscence, evoking memories of authentic sneakers. The elegantly aged look presents a new concept of "Relaxed Glamour" for the next generation, with a culture-clash sensibility.

Retrofit finds a new language by incorporating lo-fi design and hi-fi techniques into nostalgic sportswear. In the pursuit of previously unseen volumes, a form reminiscent of a snowboard boot is blended with elements of several iconic sneakers and further combined with an exaggerated sole. The concept of "Décortiqué", which refers to the process of stripping a garment down to its core structure, deconstructs the image of the classic sneaker and finds a new interpretation. The shoe employs the house technique of "Anonymity of the Lining," which reveals the inner workings of garments and accessories, with portions of the upper cut away to expose the lining sponge.

The "Retro Fit" will be available for presale at Maison Margiela Isetan Shinjuku from August 22nd, and will be available at Maison Margiela directly managed stores and select shops from the 29th.
