ISSEY MIYAKE MEN held its Spring/Summer 2019 collection show in Paris on June 21st. This season, Yusuke Takahashi drew inspiration from sunlight and shadow to propose workwear for men who live lightly and with ease in today's world. The collection was created using textiles that combined the brand's foundational techniques with computer programs, with jacquard weaving representing shining light, intricately woven knitwear representing prisms of light, and colorful graphic prints reminiscent of sunlight. Meanwhile, the image of shadows illuminated by light was expressed in shading through the meticulous handwork of artisans using a variety of dyeing techniques, including "kumi-kasuri dyeing," "batik dyeing," and "shibori dyeing," paying renewed homage to Kyoto.
